First off, Frog Lube is completely green, which for me is incredible. I love guns, explosions and all types of other cool guy things, but I understand that its important to help reduce our footprint on the planet. For that reason I try to keep everything as green as possible. What was a pleasant surprise was when I opened the CLP bottle, I was not overwhelmed by that normal CLP smell. Instead it was a minty aroma, that made cleaning slightly more enjoyable.
So Frog Lube is a wet product that acts as a dry lubricant after it is applied. I remember during the invasion of Iraq in 2003, we had been given these cans of dry graphite spray to put onto a Squad Automatic Weapons. Due to the extreme dust, sand and myriad of crap flying around over there, the dry lube ensured that none of it would get built up and cause malfunctions. The graphite spray did its job, But your weapon needs to be cleaned once you are afforded the opportunity. Just like a wet lube, dry lube will build up carbon deposits on the weapon.

Back here in Arizona, the conditions are very similar to those found overseas in Iraq. I am surrounded by mountains and live in a desert valley. A dry lube seemed a perfect fit for while I'm out shooting at the ranges. We ran both of our pistols, one with Frog Lube, the other with a generic "wet" lube. Over the course of three hours of shooting, our "wet" pistol had a total of 5 stoppages towards the end of the session. Our pistol coated with Frog Lube had no problems dealing with the conditions and allowed our pistol to shoot stoppage free.
Overall, its a great tool to add to the range bag. You must remember that different areas of operation require different lubrication requirements. The boys over at Breach Bang Clear did a great article covering different lubes for different needs. Do some research and find the product that works best for you. Most importantly do not get caught up in the current must have weapons cleaning products, most of them are over priced, contain no actual science behind their claims. It will come down to your research and trial and error.
We would definitely recommend this product to our students if they were experiencing trouble with traditional methods of Cleaning, Lubricating and Protecting their firearms.
Our marksmanship programs are designed with practical application in mind. What does that mean? Shooting fundamentals expand much further than the range. The biggest applications are hunting, home defense, discipline, attention to detail and confidence.
